Position: Senior UNIX Administrator
Location: NYC
Duration: 6 months
Contract Type: Corp-to-Corp
Rate: DOE
Role and Responsibilities:
Monitor system status, production job status.
Lead in the development & maintenance of system problem-analysis and resolution.
Support development & operations areas with technical consultation & programming.
Evaluate new hardware and software systems to support production requirements.
Upgrade the operating system from Solaris 9 to Solaris 10 on 6 SUN servers.
Update operations manual.
Create virtual zones.
Edit and tweak system monitoring scripts.
Harden Sun systems.
Patch servers with the latest updates.
Mandatory Skills:
* Minimum of 5+ years of experience is a must.
* 5 to 8 years of experience with Korn Shell and C Programming.
* Minimum of 8 years experience with SUN Solaris.
* Thorough knowledge of TCPIP, internetworking and DNS.
* Experience and knowledge in systems design and structure techniques.
* Experience & knowledge with writing shell scripts to monitor system performance.
* Thorough knowledge of Sun, Veritas volume manager, server cluster SAN and RAID technology.
* Server Hardware: SUN Server
* Server Operating Systems: SUN Solaris, Red Hat Linux, SCO and AIX a plus.
* Veritas:Veritas Netback up (snap/checkpoint volume),Veritas Cluster Server, Veritas
* File System,Veritas Cluster Volume Manager
* Tape Backup:Veritas Netbackup Datacenter
* SAN Media Server a plus
* Vault Management with Storage L700 tape library a plus
* Languages: Shell Programming and PERL a plus
