I wish for empathy.

First and foremost, I am LEONITO E. LOMA, 49 years old, bachelor and unemployed for 12 years. My last employment was at the Garden Inn Hotel located at Bagong Calsada, Calamba, Laguna, Philippines(along the highway near the Arch of Los Baños) in February 1997. I took charge of housekeeping and food order of customers. My employment lasted about two months (last part of December 1996 up to mid part of February 1997) due to call of my family to take care of our ailing elderly parent Julian Loma in the home province, Misamis Occidental.

Then, on September 18, 1998, my father was bed-ridden after he fell on the floor inside our house. He turned 89 then at that time.

I had been deprived of employment for about 5 years and 7 months. It is a long story to tell. Though, I was aware that to take sacrifices beget great indulgence like what others would say. But, in reality, life at that time was miserable watching over our father 24/7 for nobody else could take charge due to the fact that of the three members in the family only two are surviving, Meredith and I.

Our oldest brother Telesforo died of CVA (cardiovascular accident)on October 18, 1979 at the age of 45. He left his family of six children. At that time I was on my 3rd year in college at Stella Maris College, Oroquieta City. My sister Meredith, came second in the family, happened to be my teacher in three subjects of commerce course.

Five years after I finished college, my mother Juanita Estrella died on April 13, 1986 at the age of 71 also of CVA.

Julian died at the age of 95 on April 18, 2004 after more than 5 years of care giving. Though, hypertension is the common cause of death in our family, but I am like my father who did not have that kind of health problem. He just died due to old age.

After one and a half years of mourning, my sister sent me to a caregiver school, Misamis Occidental Technological Institute (earned academic excellence) in our hometown, Oroquieta. The course started on October 3, 2005 and ended on April 28, 2006 (6-month). Her purpose was to equip me with the knowledge aside from my first-hand experience when I could apply for a job abroad.

Presently, my misery lies on the unemployment. For after long years of sacrifice, my sister could not help to finance my caregiver application abroad.

The first employment agency I applied was the JEAN LOUISE MODERN CONCEPTS AND SERVICES, INC.(http://www.jeanlouiseinc.com/ )in Malate, Manila, Philippines. The work site was in Canada. I had submitted the required documents and the agency officer advised me that they will look for an employer if I was willing to pay a total sum of 6,700 Canadian dollars. Second, AR-ZEL EMPLOYMENT SERVICES, Congressional Avenue, Cubao, Quezon City (no website) where I passed an online exam and telephone interview. The work site was in Cayman Island. The manager required me to pay cash down payment of 50,000 and the balance of 130,000 pesos was through bank financing. The third, KIRSTEN STUDENT DEVELOPMENT INC.(http://www.kirsten-student.com/ ), Cebu City Branch, Cebu, Philippines in April 2008. The agency could facilitate a "Learn in a classroom and in a paid work placement" in UK. During the orientation I attended in that month, I learned that it could cost me about US 8,700 dollars plus air fair of $850 (US 9,550 dollars.

The three applications were all futile. I had gone to the extent of doing research for philanthropists and charitable funding agencies but commonly refused my requests. The loan companies also came out in my searches but I could not pay for legal processing, courier and bank charges. Yet, individual lenders eloquently urged me to send the required payment of charges before the money gets into my bank account or received by mail. There was a clout of doubt if it was real and too good to be true. But, most of all I can not pay those charges.

It could be inappropriate to tell my story on this blog page, but I feel there is no other way to express my opinion about life and my unemployment condition. To an extent, I have no enough words to say about successes and failures in my online promotional business. Yet, I have been an affiliate member to many website companies already, but I have not yet seen any income into my Pay Pal account. Even to link Pay Pal with credit/debit cards, I can not do for I do not have any card. A credit/debit card with a Visa logo is hard to acquire for I can not meet the requirements with any of our local banks in the Philippines. Unemployment and non-income earning status is the main factor that is limiting my capacity. I have many websites but I can not afford to upgrade them in order to increase site visits and drive visitors to buy products and services I am promoting.

Today, September 28, 2009, I am still living with the family of my sister to help in the family household activities. I am wishing for a good opportunity to come my way. So, If anybody could extend help through credit or whatever freely given from the bottom of one's heart, I should be very happy and must pay in return. At this time, I am very open to some help from outside/network friends. Due to inability to pursue my caregiver career and I am opting to pursue online businesses which are still expecting for good returns.
